Caribou Creek

Sherrie, Lynn, and I headed north to Caribou Creek on Saturday in search of colder temperatures and fat ice!

Walking up frozen creeks is one of my favorite things about ice climbing in Alaska and Caribou Creek offered up some amazing ice features to entertain us on the way in.

Cantellya was in big and Sherrie wasn't wasting any time getting started with the climbing...

We had a great, long day climbing Cantellya, complete with a stuck tool (Sherrie), a broken pick (me) and an epic... monster sandwich (Lynn)!!

We finished the climb just in time to rap down and walk the five miles out in the dark. It doesn't get any better! And the car even started!

Check out the rest of the pictures from the day here:

I met up with Ryan, Sherrie, and Lynn in Valdez for what was supposed to be a weekend of skiing, climbing, and hotel crockpot cooking. Instead we ended up with wet snow and rain... oh well, you can't win 'em all. We had a great time anyway and decided to head back early to try to catch some better weather around Anchorage. Luckily for us, the only blue sky in Southcentral AK was over Tincan on Sunday and the previous week's powder was looking pretty good!

Turnagain skiing with Sean and Caitlin

It's hard to complain about coming home from a big trip when you get skiing like this on your first weekend back. Turnagain was looking pretty good for early season!

Ok, so I'm finally getting around to my first post on my blog, and to posting pics from my fall Nepal trip. I figured this would be the easiest way for people to get an idea of what I'm up since I never have been motivated to do the mass email thing... we'll see if I'm any better at blogging. I'll try to keep it short and sweet so I hope you enjoy the pics!
